Happy Birthday, USA

July 4… the Independence Day for United States of America is a very special day in this history of this great experiment. Like millions before me, I wasn’t born here, but immigrated here by choice. People confuse America as a land mass with boundaries… but (at least to me it) is much more.
It is an idea, an ideology and a way of life so powerful that it often engenders hate. But to many immigrants including me, it is hope and a second chance. A chance to start afresh, unencumbered by heritage, social station or (lack of) money.
July 4th also reminds me that we all have a debt to society we live in, and we should do something… anything to pay a little of it back. Here is to birthday number 233 and thousands more to come.

the ideology that America is, is wonderful.
the problem- the muddling 5yr elected bosses of the land mass, trying to push its boundaries very often in the name of its ideology, by using brute force.
one muddled vietnam, another iraq and now one is trying his luck in afghanistan.
when will ‘they’ realise that the wonder of this country is its pull and not its push??
I don’t judge the politicans…. I think it is not worth the energy. I think your concept of push and pull is interesting way of looking at things.
