Meet The Newest Yankee… Me!

omtheyankeeThis off season, The New York Yankees have spent nearly half a billion dollars and signed three superstar free agents – C.C. Sabathia, A.J. Burnett and Mark Texiera. Too bad, they could have had me for free…. I would have even brought my own bobble head.

The personal bobble head was part of Christmas festivities at True Ventures, where I joined as venture partner earlier this year. All members of the True team got a bobble head that represented them most accurately. (See photo below).Shea and Tony were behind this wonderful gift. It is the the most fun thing I have ever received. It reminded my of a little story I read in school, The Gift of Magi. Gifts are not things, but expression of our appreciation of others.

These gifts and the smiles they bring are little joys of life, that take on a larger meaning in times such as now. The world is a harder, harsher and a more troubling place, but it is also a place filled with infinite jos. I hope you get to enjoy life, these brief moments of happiness and more importantly people you love.

Merry Christmas!

The Yanks are ruining baseball. There is too big a disparity in operating budgets b/w the teams. Look to the NFL and revenue sharing. Almost every team in the NFL has a legitimate shot at making the playoffs each year which has been fantastic (and profitable) for the league.

i think you are right about the revenue sharing etc., but some of that is already happening with all those luxury taxes and other sales. last i checked Yankees contribute close to $125 million to baseball, more than any other team.

If you looked at some of the big ticket singings of past few years, Yankees aren’t the only spenders. Also remember, this year, BoSox offered Mex 170 million – a little less than the Yanks. So it is not just Yankees you can blame.
