The Economist explores how perfumes work, especially for men, and how they “make people attractive.” The answers to the question are “not as obvious as it might seem.” The big impact of perfume is on a man’s confidence which in turn makes him more appealing to the members of the opposite sex. So there is something to those AXE commercials after all!
