Keeping up with my friends

posted October 5th, 2006 @ 21:57 — 1 comment

Some of my friends are making moves. Katie says Meredith Publishing just bought Readymade magazine, which was started by former Business 2.0 columnist, Shoshana Berger. Katie used to be an intern at that magazine, so we are grateful to them anyway.

Elsewhere, Mark Evans, a good buddy of our from north of the border just left his gig at the National Post to become a Veep at newly funded blog network, B5 Media.

To be honest, the decision to join was easy. For someone who believes blogs have a bright future and blog networks are going to become important entities, b5 has all the right ingredients for success: a growing portfolio of blogs that cover a wide variety of topics from technology and sports to entertainment and health. And it has a group of engaged bloggers, which I see as b5′s most valuable asset. Most important, b5 has barely scratched its potential in terms of what it can do from a content, technology and business perspective. Now, that’s exciting.

Another old media guy making the leap, and we couldn’t be happier. Best of luck mate… you are going to be amazingly successful.

His announcement is here. Congratulations, Mark — and to b5media. Rick Segal of J.L. Albright pays tribute to Mark here, and Om gives some props as well. [...]
